As a member of the INDIA bloc alliance,Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD is running for office. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are the Janata Dal (United), led by Nitish Kumar, and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), led by Chirag Paswan.
“Insane Anguish”
Midway through his campaign, after the first two rounds of voting, Tejashwi’s back problem was prescribed bed rest for a duration of three weeks by doctors. But despite medical advise to the contrary, the 34-year-old leader has carried on with his campaign at livemint.com
Tejaswi posted a video of himself during one of his protests on social media on May 3. He was wearing a waist belt to help with his back problems, as shown when he lifted his shirt in the video at livemint.com
“I’m receiving shots and medication for excruciating back pain. In a Hindi tweet, Tejaswi added, “I’m also wearing a belt.” The RJD leader has since carried on with his campaign, speaking to sizable audiences at public gatherings and sometimes even while confined to a wheelchair at livemint.com
Tejashwi’s back discomfort became a political point of contention between the RJD and the BJP during one of his speeches when he declared he would not stop until PM Modi was placed on “bed rest.” Subsequently, the RJD had to clarify that its leader intended “political bed rest,” not “bed rest” in the strict sense.
Many claim that Tejashwi is forced to run for office because of his father’s illness, former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav at livemint.com
